An Nd:YAG laser is used as the heat source.
The high power density of the pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding process yields the lowest heat fusion welding process available to industry.
The welding is accomplished by the placing of filler wire between the work piece surface and the laser beam. The laser beam melts the filler material with the parent metal yielding a built up of the surface.
The wire diameter used is typically between 0.1mm & 0.5mm.
Fusion welding (no filler rod) is also
used in the assembly of components in a range of industries.
The Laser diameter is between 0.3mm to 1.5mm.
